……We’re gonna have a good time!
Thanks to The Beatles for the lyrics that inspired this card, but not for the fact that I only know two lines of the song and I can’t get them out of my head now….aargh!
Hope you like the card I made for Free File Friday. Here’s two variations.
First:
Pretty much the Cut out Text Panel is backed with a slightly larger Solid Colour Panel and then attached to the card base…..Easy!
I did raise the text panel by attaching it with double sided sticky foam tape but that’s optional.
Here’s another photo that shows the 3D effect a bit better.
I’ll admit that cutting that foam tape into teensy pieces to attach the “weeded” inside bits of the letters A, R & B was a pain, but was easy enough with the D & O.
And second:
I added an extra layer of card behind the text panel to get the Ombre effect. It’s not on the file – I did it the old school way with a ruler and exacto knife
I cut 3 strips of different shades of yellow card and butted them against each other on the reverse of the text card and just made sure the joins were hidden between the text rows on the solid part. Then I added the colour panel to the back before attaching the whole lot to the card base.
I didn’t use foam tape – it’s all flat this time. This made adding the inside bits of the letters easier as I used one of those fine glue pens.
Since I did the samples, I’ve rounded the corners of the text panels on the cut file. Just to match better with the rest of the card. Oh, and I’ve thrown in an envelope pattern, because the card is a non standard size.

Both lovely cards, Pam.
For the centre of letters I often just weld a bit into them to make sure there are no ‘stranded’ areas. When I don’t do this, I usually use glue gel (silcone would do too), rather than foam tape for those ‘tiny bits’ as I find that cutting the foam tape tends to stick to the scissors (but maybe this is just me! LOL). I agree that foam tape is great for ensuring it is all the same depth though.
Thank you for sharing your file with everyone too.

Tine, Thanks for the tips. I haven’t seen glue gel around but I’ll keep an eye out for it now you mention it. Anything to make life easier …. 🙂
Cheers
