Pantone® is a recognised industry standard Colour matching system that influences Fashion, Homewares and manufacturing worldwide.
Last month Pantone® announced their colour of the year for 2016, except that this time around they announced 2 colours! The Pantone® colours for 2016 are Rose Quartz which is a beautiful shade of Pink and Serenity, a tranquil shade of Blue.
If you’d like to keep up with the current trends by using these lovely colours when designing Print & Cut projects with the Silhouette software – read on:
This has been tested in Silhouette Studio Designers Edition V3 (3.6.57ssde)
- Open and select the Design element you wish to work on.
- Click on the Colour Fill Window
- Select Advanced Options
- With the design element you are working on still selected – Copy and paste or type the following HTML codes into the small box marked #. For Serenity the code is: 92A8D1 and for Rose Quartz it is: F7CAC9. Then hit enter. I did the heart in Serenity (not pictured) and the pic below shows the overlay in Rose Quartz.
- Repeat the above steps with the Line Colour window
- That’s it – so easy!

For the “How To” demo above, I used the free Valentine cutting files available on this post.
The HTML conversion codes I have used for the colours are from the Pantone® website with a host of other information – there’s also some great images of how other designers and manufacturer’s are using the colours already.
