I’ve got a great file this week for those of you that use planners. The file includes 12 (yes 12!) tabbed file dividers. One for each month. And there’s a blank un-tabbed page there too. Have fun and plan your year!
The File dividers fit a standard A5 planner with 6 holes.
Options
Use the file in several ways. First up:
- It’s set up as a print and cut so you can change the words to any colour you like and print and cut on plain paper or card. The page on the file is A4, so make the necessary page adjustments if you are printing in Letter Size.
- Fill the design with a colour or background pattern and print out that.
- Print and Cut directly on any scrapbook paper you have on hand as the background ****
- ****With that last option you may be wondering how the machine will pick up the registration marks on a busy background paper. This is how I do it – with squares of paper and double sided tape. Then run through the printer – The registration marks will print on the white paper and your machine will be able to recognize them easily. But don’t do as I did and feed it into the printer the wrong way and have to do it over!!
If all that sounds like hard work you just want it pretty, this is quick with no printing:
- Regular Cut – To cut the outline from pretty paper or card with text – First, ungroup each divider and delete the months and the initials on the tabs and then go ahead and treat as a regular cut file by cutting only the outline and holes from your favourite papers and cards. Easy!
What Font is That?
For the month names I’ve used a modern Brush stroke font called Bruselo Script.
Update:
Do you like these file Dividers but don’t have a Silhouette Machine or other Cutting Machine? This post gives ideas on how to print them out to use as a template.

Thanks Johanna,
So pleased you like them and so glad you found them 🙂
Do you happen to have the template in pdf form? Or even in docx form since that’s the only way I can edit them?
(I don’t have that studio program nor any adobe products)
Hi Lacee,
The files are made specifically for the Silhouette Cutting Machine in their Studio program and it doesn’t have the ability to save as a PDF. If you let me know exactly how you intend to use the file eg: cutting with a different machine or cutting by hand with Scalpel or scissors I can try and work out how I can save the file so it may be accessible to you.
Honestly, I was going to cut by hand. I didn’t hear about the cutting machine until reading your blog. It sounds amazing but I can’t afford it right now. :/
Hi again Lacee,
I spent time yesterday trying to convert the cutting file to PDF – Unfortunately the scaling is all out. While I can save the shape OK – it prints out at at a different size to what it should be. I’ve tried all the scale settings in the printer and in the PDF with no luck. I tried it in Word and had no luck with the re sizing. Even tried saving as a jpeg with no luck.
I googled it and it seems that it’s quite a common thing for conversions to PDF to be out in size from the original and unfortunately the internet didn’t have a solution that worked for me.
Sadly, I don’t have time to work on it more – Sorry!
A solution would be to download the silhouette Studio Software from their site (It’s free and you don’t need to buy the cutting machine) Then open my cutting file in it (V3) and print the template from there. It prints at the correct size from there as that was the program I designed it in.
It may mean a bit of a learning curve to familiarize yourself with the program but that’s the only thing I can think of right now.
(Otherwise, if you google there are other free templates out there too for dividers – I’d love to know how they got the size to be consistent – they are probably using a different program than me! )
Sorry I couldn’t be more help.
Cheers Pam 🙂
You are sooo sweet for trying! 🙂 I am going to try the software without the machine but I have looked at other divider templates and I can’t seem to edit any of them easily. Like when I convert them to word, they end up being a picture that I can’t edit. Plus, yours was the first that used 12 tabs instead of giving me 3 or 5 tabs. I like 12 better especially since it’s for months. I will let you know how it goes 🙂 Thank you sooo much!
Can you help me? I am learning this software.
I tried to edit your dividers and add patterns to them.
Some covered the month label and some didn’t.
However when I used some of the patterns that covered the month label, on other dividers, they didn’t cover the month label. So, I am confused. I imported them into Google Drive hoping that you could see my files and help. They are separated into months because that’s how I was trying to show you my problem. Hi Lacee,
I can’t access the google drive as it says I need permission. I have a tutorial which I’m posting on Tuesday explaining how to set it up to print – it’s suitable for printing directly on pre printed (scrapbook) paper like my samples in the pic.
If you are adding pattern to the individual dividers from the program to print out all together, you need to ungroup the outline and the month word first. – Select the template and word and right click and select ungroup from the pop up menu. Then select only the outline and fill it with pattern or colour or whatever.
If the month name is covered, select the divider outline by clicking on it at the edge and use the “Send to back” tool. It’s the ninth little box from the left of your screen at the bottom. That should place the pattern behind the text and the month should show up.
Then, you can select the Month name and change the colour etc, move it around as it is now separate from the background. Hope that helps but If I’ve misunderstood your problem let me know and if you can give me the google access and I can take another look 🙂
Hi Lacee,
Good luck and don’t hesitate to ask if you’re not sure of anything in the Silhouette Software.
Funny you should mention the 12 tabs. That’s why I made my own file – (at my daughters request) because we could only find the tabs with 5 or 6 in a row !
It wouldn’t let me reply to your other post. But, what you told me, HELPED tremendously! I was able to edit the ones that the pattern had covered and was able to make them a color that worked with the pattern. I love this software!
Also, see, why are there few people that need 12 tabs? That makes no sense to me.
You are my hero! Also, I am going to continue watching your blog and see if I can make anything on my own. Still not sure how you created the actual dividers but I will continue to play with the software.
Hi! I love these!! I have downloaded the program, and opened it up, but I don’t have the machine. When I tried to print, all that was printed was the cut lines, and I really need the outline…anyway to make the outline show up on the printed pages?
Hi Rachel,
Since my convo above with Lacee about this I’ve done a full tutorial which I’ll be publishing on the 11th!
In the meantime, Just select the divider you are working on, go to Cut line Settings up along the top menu , scroll down to the bottom option and check the box marked “print lines of selected shapes. You can also make the line thicker here if you want. eg: 1 point. And you can change the colour from the top menu “Line Color” .
May be worth printing out on copy paper to test before committing to lovely scrapbook paper!
Hope that helps – keep an eye out for next Tuesday’s tute.
Hi there! Thanks so much for these dividers, it is just what I was looking for!! I am having a little issue with registration marks (on plain white paper). The silhouette says registration mark sensor error when I change from the original January one to any other. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Any ideas?
Hi Chelsie,
In the past when I have had registration issues I’ve tried various things like turn the machine off, then restart. Sometimes that fixes it but not always. A couple of other things to check:
Ensure the page is set up correctly for A4 or Letter size – whichever you use. Is there enough light? I also shine my phone torch on the page near the rego marks (with the lid open) as it’s trying to read them. Reset the rego marks to default. If they are default try thickening them!
It’s happened to me sometimes when I’m doing multiple print and cuts like you are. I tried all of the above!
Or…. You could try setting up this brand new page with registration marks and then just oopying and pasting the design into the new page – It can be a bit hit and miss as to which solution works!
If all that fails, try reading the rego marks manually – here’s a helpful video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oxwx79a9xs
Hope that helps – Good Luck!
