You can use today’s resource for all sorts of things – It’s a calculator that will convert Years to Months, Weeks, Days, Minutes or even seconds. But it can be used to calculate so many other things such as a count down to a special event, how many days you’ve met a goal, how many days to reach your goal….Well, you get the idea.
I was interested in it to help make Personalized Birthday Cards like the one I’ve done above – no I don’t know anyone that old! At least not in years but just for a fun, I personalized a card with the Age converted from years into Days. The app helped me with the calculations.
This is the sentiment I popped in the card. I decorated a pre cut card with the numbers and offset which I cut with my cutting machine. I used a metal die for the Happy Birthday sentiment. Oh, and I used this method to print the greeting inside.
Using it to work out a Birthday? Why not just multiply the years by 365? Well, by using these calculators it factors in the leap years and you have a
choice to include the end date or not. Just makes it quick and easy.
This one is for an IPhone or IPad,. Search for it in the Itunes store – It’s called “Days Old” and it’s free.
Here’s a screenshot – I’m calculating the age here of my favourite Leo. You can see it calculates how many days as at the day you’re using it, or on the lower box you could put in a date in the future. At the top right it gives the date of some milestone days.
(for Desktop Converter details – Read on to end of post)
I also used it here for a vinyl fridge decal when I was decorating for my husband’s Birthday Party a few years back. In hindsight – it may have been more tactful to rephrase that as “Murray is 21923 days young!” Oh well….He He….
No Ipad or Iphone? – No Worries.
If you aren’t able to use the app above here’s a Desktop application that will do the same thing and is accessible to everyone with an internet connection.
This is how my calculations looked:
Have fun working out how old you are 🙂

I cant believe Im asking this but I want to make a card like yours above for my Niece who is turning 50.
Can you tell me how to make the circle with the Happy Birthday. I have a silhouette and this should be a no brainer but I have a small brain.
Thanks but understand if you say no. I don’t expect you to drop every thing to accommodate me.

I’m pleased I inspired you to make a similar Card Sandy. That Circle sentiment was from a metal die cut but it would be fairly easy to make something similar with Silhouette.
First draw a Circle, (Hold down shift to get it even) Select the circle and create an internal offset by about 1/4 inch. Select both circles and convert to compound path. Set aside for now.
Write out the Sentiment, each word in a separate text box. (Clarenden BT is a different font but would work for this) Working on one word at a time, Ungroup and move letters closer to each other so they slightly overlap and they are different levels. (up and down a bit.) Refer to the pic for guidance.
When you’re happy – Select, Right Click and Weld. Move the text boxes over the circles and position so they slightly overlap the edges of the circle. You’ll have to stretch the top word out larger to fit. When you’re happy with the position, select it all and Right click and weld.
And that’s it! 🙂 Sing out again if you have any issues or my instructions aren’t clear enough 🙂
Cheers
Pam

Forgot to add that the original Metal die cut is about 7cm (3 inches) but the size doesn’t matter too much – it can be whatever you like to fit your card.
