I’m pleased to be posting today as part of the Silhouette Challenge Group.
This Month the group posts are pretty special as they’re the last for the Facebook Group this year. What makes it extra special is that this post includes a great Giveaway. Details are further on but first here is my project. The Theme is Holiday Crafts.
I’ve made a Christmas Noel Banner. It’s a pretty simple design of the Word “Noel”, with each letter surrounded by a lovely Quatrefoil Frame.
I’m sharing the Free Cutting File for the “Noel Banner” but as an added extra I’m also including a blank frame, so you can make your own word banners with this shape: maybe Peace, Joy, etc…
How to…
I haven’t added step by step pics here as it very basic and easy, but just ask if need be!
- In Studio, write a word or name in the font of your choice. I used Franklin Gothic Medium, a Sans Serif Font.
- Ungroup the letters of the word.
- Copy and paste the empty Quatrefoil frame until there is one frame for each letter of the word.
- Work with one letter and frame at a time. Place a letter within the frame.
- Select & Drag the letter from the corner to resize. You want it just big enough to overlap the frame by a smidge (very precise!) at the top and bottom of the inside edge of the frame.
- When happy with the size, Copy and Paste the letter and set the extra letter aside.
- Go back to the letter that’s in the frame and with both selected, Select Align > Click Center.
- With both still selected > Right Click and Weld.
And that’s it! All those extra letters are the contrasting overlay which I also embossed. When I assembled my Banner, when overlaying the letters over the frame, I adhered them with little foam squares to add dimension.
Here’s a close up
I threaded twine through the holes, I measured and knotted on the back as I went, which kept the banner in place along the twine. It’s all pretty lightweight, so I stuck it to the wall with blutack. The smaller end shapes cover both the end of the twine and the blutack.

Love this Noel sign. Very cute! I like that it is in Black and White rather than traditional red, green, golds, etc
