If you’re a regular follower of my blog you’ll have noticed that I offer my Free Cutting Files in 3 formats at the moment. They are the Silhouette Studio File for V3 and V4 of the Silhouette Software , the Legacy File Version for V2, and my newer designs in SVG Format. I am also gradually converting my older free designs to SVG too.
I’m making a change from the beginning of July and I’ll no longer be offering my files in the V2 format. I’ve noticed recently from my stats, that I’m getting fewer and fewer downloads for V2 than in the past. I’m assuming because of that, that most of my readers have moved on to the V3 versions of the Silhouette Software and possibly are using the V4 software already.
I’m still running V3.8.194 but that will change shortly when I bite the bullet and update to V4 soon. I believe that V3 files will work fine with the V4 software.
What to do if you are still using V2 of Silhouette Studio
and you’d like one of my free files….
- Do you have Designer edition? If so, you won’t notice the lack of a V2 file! Just download the Free SVG version of my Files instead. You can open or drag them into Silhouette Studio and use as normal – one additional step is required though – Simply select the Design > Cut settings>Select the appropriate cut setting.
- Don’t have designer Edition? Consider getting it – I love it – it was worth the price for the Knife Cut Settings alone. Here’s a comparison of the things it will do as opposed to the Basic Edition. Shop around for the best price.
- Consider updating to V3 (or V4!) Get the latest V4 here or the Legacy versions of V3 here
If none of those options work for you…
Oh dear! Well, I don’t want to lose my valued readers over this, so if there’s a file you really, really want and only V2 will cut it, as a last resort…..leave a comment in the post {make sure you add a current email address} and I’ll convert the file and send you a copy. Be aware that there’s time differences involved (I’m in Australia) so it may not happen immediately but I’ll do it as soon as I’m able!
