After being inspired by all the tropical designs that are so popular at the moment, I thought I’d have a go at making a leaf cut File.
We have a huge Philodendron Plant in the Back Yard. It’s been there for maybe 25 plus years! So I cut a small leaf and scanned it. The resulting trace in Silhouette wasn’t too inspiring so I tweaked the shape with the Warp Mesh Tool from the new V4 Silhouette Studio Software. (I’ve got the business edition) I did a post on how cool this tool is and how I did it here.
So today, I’m sharing the file that I made.
I hope you like the Tropical Leaf Motif and can find a way to use it. I think it’d make a great Heat Transfer Vinyl Motif or a cute element for a card.
The Files.
Here’s The Silhouette and SVG Cutting Files.

Hi Ruth, The link you have quoted above is the blog image of the file not the actual cutting file. If you look down further on the post under the sub heading “The Files” and click on the link, a folder will download from Dropbox. It’s a zip folder that you will have to unzip. Once unzipped you will see both the SVG File and The Silhouette Studio File. You can select which ever one you prefer to use. Hope this Helps – Let me know if you have any issues 🙂
