A few months ago one of my Facebook readers asked about over the edge cards. (Hi Carole!) I had to admit I hadn’t heard of them! But a quick Google and Pinterest search soon bought up heaps of lovely examples and I thought I’d have a go at making one.
I adapted my Christmas Tree Motif from last week to make this card where the edge of the card front follows the shape of the tree and the spaces of the shape extend back into the body of the card front. The top picture shows the card unadorned – the pic below shows how I decorated it.
Included in the cut file is the star shape and the additional overlay which I used to cut out the patterned paper. This is optional, as any other decorations may be added instead.
Just a tip when adding the sentiment, keep it to the left a little, otherwise it will show through the tree frame and may look odd when the card is closed.

Thank you for this file! I like all your great ideas and applaud your generosity. I’ve been a follower of yours for a long time and plan to remain. Thanks again!
Thanks so much Pam, what size card does it make?
Hi Glennis,
At the size i made it in the Silhouette File, It’s pretty much a 5.5 inch square card.. Although the star sticks out a smidge more, it fits fine in an envelope made for a 5.5 inch card. I must have had my software set to inches when I made it! I switch between the two frequently.
I cut it from Landscape A4 card though. Pretty much, if you wish to resize it can be made any size suitable for a square card.
Hi pam, Thank you for this it is a great idea, and it looks great, TFS, Cheers Anna.
