This post is for my readers who use the Silhouette Studio Software.
As soon as I know a new version of the Silhouette Studio Software has been released, I updated my software. That’s just me. I know many people think differently and like to wait a while to make sure any “bugs” etc have been found and fixed.
When V4 was released I updated fairly quickly and I love it. Any glitches I noticed have been mostly ironed out now. The main reason I wanted to update was to take advantage of the Business Edition which would enable me to convert my Studio Files to SVG right in the program without relying on an outside app.
Still, it’s not all perfect – I found out recently that my V4 designed Studio files may not cut in the V3 software. V3 users that use the Designer Edition can get around this by using the SVG file I supply, though that does require that the cut settings be manually set to “cut”. Another solution is to give the V4 software a try. I’m waiting to see if Silhouette have another solution.
Silhouette offer the older versions as Legacy files, so it’s easy to uninstall the new one and reinstall the older version if it doesn’t work out for you.
Are you an updater or happy to stay with the tried and trusted?
Here’s a simple little poll. I’d love to hear what you do 🙂
Hi, I am only using V3 because I wanted to purchase from the shop, I use a Portrait and it hasn’t worked as well since I upgraded. I don’t think I will upgrade again, I’m waiting to see how long my portrait will keep on working and will make a decision then.
Pam, you must register the files in V2 to be opened with the V3 (sorry for my english)
bonne journée

I am a beginner at using the Cameo and when I updated I was absolutely lost so converted back to V3 after a couple of days.
I also update whenever there’s a new version.. I must admit it takes a bit of getting used to with the layout so different but I really like it
Hi Pam,
I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to V4 !!:)
Just wanted to let you know. lol Haven’t tried it yet but hopefully today.
Hugs,
Myrna
Good on ya Myrna. Everything you are used to is still there but maybe in a different spot. I suggest just spending some time “clicking around” to get used to where everything is. I love it – hope you do too once your familiar with it 👌
Hello,
I use the Designer edition of V3. I had heard that you could only use “the cloud” with V4 and I use my software at crops where there is no Wi-Fi available. I also like to purchase from the Designer store.
Smiles,
Linda
Hi Pam, I up graded to v4 about 3 months back, and I LOVE IT, 6 weeks back I had been using a CBO9 blade, and then I noticed that the mechanism where the blade sits in was not lifting up like it should!! and it was not cutting, I thought that the cbo9 was the problem, I put the ratchet blade back in and I was still having the problem, anyway then I noticed that the blade pressure was set on low, cranked it up and all was good, still have to give the CBO9 blade a go, but a little apprehensive at the moment! but I do like the program and you do get used to it, Cheers Anna
